Today, and every day since the past two weeks, over 600 buses from the Tshwane bus service and Reya Vaya buses were decontaminated with the highest level of decontamination in existence (Decon-7) by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers to help curb the further spreading of covid-19. By protecting the commuters and drivers during the high peak of Covid-19 in Gauteng.
Being very concerned themselves by the high increase of Covid-19 cases daily – recording more and more cases daily – Scientology Volunteer Ministers responded by volunteering their time – even risking their life – to decontaminate all those 600 buses daily and nightly.
While hundreds of thousands of South Africans travel using the bus service in the City of Tshwane and Johannesburg, greatly worried about the communal transport system and the recent positive covid-19 positive case in the bus service, bus drivers have also reportedly been very anxious after the new found cases and correctly so.
“It was only right that we stand together with the City of Tshwane Bus service and provide all assistance needed in this time because they are valued members of society and they put themselves at risk daily transporting thousands and we wanted to ensure that they operate in a safe as possible environment” said Sandile Hlayisi, Public Affairs Director for the Scientology Volunteer Ministers.
Scientology Volunteer Ministers have also been decontaminating Rea Vaya buses every night for the past 3 weeks in an effort to curb the cross contaminations of this virus within Gauteng’s metropolitan cities.
In addition, the Volunteer Ministers have also been decontaminating over 13,000 taxis daily in 10 taxi ranks around Gauteng bringing the total number to nearly 330,000 taxis since the lockdown began.
“From day one to day of lockdown, our priority has always been protecting the essential services. Buses which carry hundreds of thousands is priority to us,” added Hlayisi.
The work of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers over the period of the pandemic covers over 12,600 buildings, from one floor-clinic to 35 –floor government building. The organization says they also produced a million hygiene booklets, out of which 600,000 in English, isiZulu, Sesotho and Xhosa have been distributed so far.
