In a new generation of talented musicians shines the rising star Off Ryine. Originally from Kampala, Uganda, he is making a significant impact in the industry with the support of Lot Fire Records, a renowned music recording company in East Africa.
South Africa Today (S.A.T) had the privilege of conversing with Off Ryine on various topics, including his life, and music career. Read on to discover more about his inspiring journey.
1. Explain, who is Off Ryine? 
I am Kalumba Ashiraf Abubakari Mudathiru, professionally recognized as Off Ryine. I am a highly skilled musical artist originating from Kampala, Uganda, excelling in various creative fields such as singing, songwriting, and music production.
I was born on July 14, 1998 at Mulago hospital in Uganda to Mukasa Abubakari and Kabitto Mariam. My early years were spent at Kiyindi in Buikwe District, where I was raised by my parents with my siblings.
My educational journey began at Naguru Katale Primary School. After successfully completing my elementary school, l was admitted to Allied Teachers Secondary School, Nyenga, where l pursued my ordinary and advanced level studies, and l graduated at YMCA Comprehensive Institute, located in Wandegeya.
2. When did Off Ryine begin singing?
I began my foray into the world of music during my elementary school years, where l was among the great members of school choir. My professional music journey commenced in 2022 with the release of my original debut track titled “Potential”, which was meticulously recorded under the guidance of Lot Fire Records – Recording studio. Throughout my musical endeavors, l have garnered recognition for my uplifting and socially conscious compositions, which serve as a source of inspiration and advocacy.
3. What kind of music genre does Off Ryine make?
The genre of music that l specialize in is widely recognized as Afrobeat, RnB, Pop and Dancehall, with influences from elements of Reggae as well.
4. Who is a source of inspiration to you? 
I have been greatly inspired by a wide range of individuals who have made significant contributions to the music industry. These exceptional figures include Madoxx Ssemanda Sematimba, Eddy Kenzo, and the late Mowzey Radio. However, my list of influencers extends far beyond these renowned names, encompassing a diverse group of talented individuals who have profoundly influenced my artistic vision.
5. Who handles your daily business activities like bookings, promotions and so many other?
Within the scope of my daily business operations, tasks like bookings and promotions are efficiently managed by a dedicated professional team at Lot Fire Records. This team plays a crucial role in overseeing my professional affairs, working collectively to maintain a well-organized schedule, secure performance opportunities, and effectively promote my music to a wider and more diverse audience
6. Off Ryine, how many albums and songs do you have? 
Among my impressive discography, one standout studio album is titled ‘Potential.’ Released in 2022. In addition to this remarkable album, l have also released numerous other songs, totaling over twelve tracks across my album and singles.
7. Who produces your music?
I have had the honor of working closely with Eyo Montez, OK, Shaq on the Beat, Yee Femi and BX Pro, a highly regarded music producer in the industry who is affiliated with Lot Fire Records.
8. What makes Off Ryine unique as a musical artist? 
My enchanting appeal, emotive delivery, and versatile singing style set me apart as a musical artist.
9. Who are some of the artists you have collaborated with and who are you currently working with?
I have had the honor of collaborating with the incredibly talented musicians from Uganda such Bash Luks, Bx Music, Jim Siizer and Mutant Jay, which has allowed me to explore and experiment with new musical styles. Currently, I am in the process of working on a collaboration with the renowned artist Eddy Kenzo, where we will aim to create a dynamic fusion of Reggae-Dancehall and alternative sounds that will push the boundaries of my artistry.
10. Which female musician globally do you admire and want to collaborate with?
I love Lydia Jazmine, I never get tired of listening to her sweet melodies – my friends love them, too. They are incredible with their sound and vibe; I’m simply amazed!
11. What do you expect your location or role to be in the next five years? 
In the next five years, my goal is to be an established artist. I have plenty of new projects in the works, but currently my singles ‘Potential,’ ‘Nzijja’ and ‘Love Let it Go (Feat. Mutant Jay)’, are both available in audio and visual formats. You can find them on my YouTube Channel as well as other social media platforms.
