Taiwan’s FunNow Acquires TableApp to Enable Malaysia’s Restaurants to Sell Their Empty Tables at The Last Minute

FunNow, an on-demand instant lifestyle booking app based in Taiwan, has acquired TableApp, a startup providing restaurant reservation and table management tools in Malaysia, in a cash-and-equity deal.

Other financial details haven’t been disclosed.

As per a press note, the combined entity is “set to bring more enriching reservation experiences by connecting patrons to restaurants and hospitality outlets more efficiently and seamlessly”.

Under the terms in the agreement, the TableApp team will join FunNow at its Malaysia office in Kuala Lumpur, while its core restaurant reservation and table management tools for merchants will continue to operate as standalone applications.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Taipei, FunNow offers a guaranteed reservation with the best price points on lifestyle activities, such as massaging and spa services and entertainment. It claims to have 1.5 million registered members across the globe and has presence in Tokyo, Okinawa, Osaka, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong.

In Kuala Lumpur, it offers over 1,000 deals from handpicked massage and spa centers, F&B outlets, and beauty salons.

Started in 2013, TableApp through its mobile apps and website enables diners to make real-time, free and easy restaurant reservations 24×7 for free with instant confirmation online.

Diners can sign in to their TableApp accounts to keep track of their past and upcoming reservations, modify or cancel their reservations, view restaurant menus, and enjoy exclusive dining discounts and offers.

To date, it claims to have seated over 6.3 million diners at nearly 500 restaurants in Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.
