SOUTH AFRICA, 6 SEPTEMBER, 2022 – South African based Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), Setup A Startup, announces the official closure on nominations for the 2022 Africa Start-up Ecosystem Builders Summit and Awards, after successfully recording a count of 2690 nominations in 40 African countries.
The maiden edition of this flagship program by Setup A Startup this year, 2022, will be held under the theme, “Discover and understand the needs of start-up ecosystem building and ecosystem builders” which is set to recognise individuals and organisations that support entrepreneurs across Africa throughout their entrepreneurial journeys. Esteemed as Africa’s unsung heroes, each of the nominees have helped entrepreneurs access networks, talent, resources, and finance needed to turn brilliant ideas and technical expertise into profitable and progressive start-ups.
As convener of the ASEB Summit and Awards, Setup A Startup developed a business concept with a mission to create a unified, continental movement of entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders who work to infuse entrepreneurship into economic development.
This year’s ASEB Summit and Awards event will take place at Hotel Sky in Sandton, South Africa, 250 yards from the prestigious Sandton Mall, on the 6th to the 8th of December 2022 and receives compliments by honoured guests including executives of international public and private sector partners, key players in represented industries, investors, government officials, and policymakers.
The ASEB Summit and Awards are proudly supported by global partners, the HYBR Group, Synertium, and IRPAFRICA, firmly around the belief that development does not occur spontaneously as a natural consequence when economic conditions in some sense are right, however a catalyst is needed and this requires entrepreneurial activity to a considerable extent, to invest in collaborative efforts and embrace Africa trade relations, in particular, the entrepreneurial spirit among the African diaspora.
The Three-day event will rollout sessions over a period of two-days on a number of interactive topics such as Ecosystem mapping; why ecosystems matter and how to build them; funding your ecosystem building efforts; building future entrepreneurs; women in tech – inclusive; diversity and equity innovation; collaborative entrepreneurship for continuous innovation, and many more. The final, third day, will close off with an African-style elegant Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony.

The ecosystem builders and contributors will gather to help accelerate the emerging field of ecosystem building by collaboratively creating tools, resources, and sharing new knowledge to better support communities that empower the makers, doers, and dreamers in our communities, that is the entrepreneurs.
Judging and public voting ends on the 18th of October 2022, thereafter the jury will meet and determine the winners for each category according to a 20% count of public votes and 80% of the final score from the jury votes.
