Shopee Expands Logistics Services In Malaysia To Offer Next-day Delivery

Shopee said it has expanded its logistics infrastructure in Malaysia and is set to introduce next-day delivery for Shopee Mart items in Peninsular Malaysia via its integrated shipping service Shopee Xpress.

These initiatives include the Singaporean ecommerce giant introducing 10 new Shopee Xpress drop-off points in the country, according to a statement. It also partnered with Parcelhub and MBE Malaysia to bring the total number of drop-off points nationwide to over 300.

Additionally, Shopee also widened its network of warehouses, hubs, and sorting centers in over 50 locations in the country, including those in Senawang, Bagan Serai, Batu Pahat, Simpang Ampat, and Bayan Lepas.

The company said this expansion enables it to offer next-day shipping through Shopee Xpress. Users who make their Shopee Mart purchases before 12 PM can expect their orders to be delivered the next day in Peninsular Malaysia, excluding Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

If orders are not delivered the next day, users will be given a free shipping voucher to be used on their next purchase.

The expansion comes after Parcel Monitor and iPrice Group found that final-mile delivery times in Malaysia has seen a 119% increase amid the Covid-19 lockdown measures. In 2019, the two data companies also reported that Malaysia had the longest wait time for online deliveries in the Southeast Asian region.

“Together with the integrated payments such as our mobile wallet ShopeePay and in-app features like Shopee Live and Shopee Chat that enhance the shopping experience, our logistics services strengthen our robust ecommerce ecosystem,” said Shopee’s regional managing director Ian Ho.
