According to data released late on Monday by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the global chip sales fell 16.8% to $98.2 billion in the second quarter, which is the third consecutive quarter of decline. Chip sales also fell 16.8% to $32.7 billion in June, which is the sixth consecutive month of decline. John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, said in a statement, “The global semiconductor market is still in a sales slump in mid-2019, with the revenue falling nearly 15% behind the mid-2018 by the end of June.”
