The Indonesian telemedicine app Alodokter announced on Thursday that it raised an undisclosed amount of funding from MDI Ventures, the corporate VC arm of Telkom Indonesia. The round is an extension of a USD 33 million Series C in 2019, according to a statement.
“We will utilize the funding to enhance our digital health platform to be more robust, accessible and affordable,” said president director Suci Arumsari. The company has raised so far a total of USD 45.1 million, according to Crunchbase.
Alodokter further said it plans to launch an e-pharmacy service in the next few months. The firm currently has a wide array of services such as offline doctor booking, online consultation, insurance services, and digital healthcare content.
Alodokter claims to be the most used healthcare platform in Indonesia, with over 27 million monthly active users on its mobile web and app, according to Similarweb and Apptopia. More than 70% of its app users are young female adults.
Founded in 2014 by Arumsari and Nathanael Faibis, Alodokter has a network of 30,000 doctors and 1,500 hospitals and clinics on its apps. It is facing competition from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-backed Halodoc and Sinar Mas-backed SehatQ.
