AdaKerja Raises USM from Beenext to Connect Blue-Collar Workers with Msmes in Indonesia

AdaKerja, an online blue-collar jobs marketplace in Indonesia, has announced a US$1 million fundraise from Singapore-based VC firm Beenext.

This brings its total funding raised to date to US$1.4 million, with the remaining capital coming from its previous round involving notable angels, including the heads of LinkedIn, DBS, ICAP and Tolaram Group.

The fresh capital will be used to further develop AdaKerja’s technology and product offerings.

Launched in 2019, AdaKerja connects blue-collar workers with micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the archipelago. The startup claims to offer easy-to-use chat and mobile products, which help workers and businesses transact in a “fast, simple and trusted way”.

Since its launch, AdaKerja claims to have grown to over 600,000 complete jobseeker profiles and 10,000 engaged businesses on its platform, despite facing strong COVID-19 headwinds in 2020.

The AdaKerja team has been fully decentralised and remote since day one, with members from across multiple continents with different languages, cultures, religion and time zones.
