Sani-touch – part of the Infection Protection Products stable of brands – is proud to launch a new sustainable cleaning product for commercial kitchens, hotel rooms and hospitals at Hostex. The new Buddy B rolls are 100% biodegradable cloths that can be discarded into kitchen waste. The Buddy B rolls are an extension of our cloth range which includes the unique Zonki cloth colour coded picture cloths.
Wholly focused on creating a sustainable value chain, we’re not stopping with biodegradable cleaning cloths. In a first for South Africa, we want your green waste as part of our ‘Cloths to Compost Green Waste Initiative’ which will see green waste and used Buddy B biodegradable cloths turned into specialised growing mediums specifically designed for agricultural crops.
Sani-touch has been working with 9Five Integrated Nutrient Systems (Pty) Ltd, a specialist company which produces 100% organic nutrient dense growing mediums. 9Five has successfully piloted a project to include Sani-touch’s Buddy B biodegradable cloths with organic waste to produce a bespoke growing medium. Made from pure plant fibres and hydroentangled using water pressure, Buddy B cloths are perfectly designed to biodegrade.
In addition to a state-of-the-art and climate controlled worm farm facilities, 9Five manufactures its growing mediums from organic waste. Once matured the growing medium is mixed with worm vermicast. The end result is a perfectly balanced 100% organic growing medium with a high microbial count which ensures stronger and healthier plant growth and higher yields.
Sani-touch is partnering with 9Five to help source green waste which will be composted together with used Buddy B cloths to create a 100% organic growing medium that negates the need for chemical fertilisers, is more water-efficient, rebalances the soil to optimal health and ensures food security for future generations.
Providing protection against viruses and ever-present germs has been the decades-long mission of Infection Protection Products, a 30-year old proudly South African manufacturer that is best known for its Sani-touch range of products, including the Sani-touch Saniwipes trolley and hand sanitising wipes found at the entrance to retail stores across the country.
Saniwipes were the first trolley and hand sanitising wipes available in South Africa. These trusted wipes were recently changed to green in colour and incorporated into a circular recycling system which is allowing used wipes to be repurposed into jungle gyms, benches, pallets and even bird feeders. One of these bird feeders will be given away on each day of Hostex. So come along and visit us at stand E14.
