To mark 126 incredible years, the National Zoological Garden of South Africa is giving a massive gift back to the community: a celebratory entry fee of just R26, on the 26th of each month from November 2025 to September 2026. It’s a thank you to the community for generations of support, and an invitation to be part of Zoo’s exciting future.
The National Zoological Garden of South Africa is honouring its 126th anniversary with a massive, ongoing celebration, and the whole city is invited! To “toast” to 126 incredible years of community support, the Zoo is introducing a new entry fee of just R26 on the 26th of every month, from November 2025 to September 2026!
The Pretoria Zoo has been a place for people to connect with the wonder of the wild, for generations. It’s where countless core memories have been made; from seeing a lion for the first time to family picnics on the lawn, school trips that bring textbook images to life and more.
“This is not just a birthday for the Zoo, it’s a celebration for all of Pretoria,” says Mr Leslie Mudimeli, the Executive Director of the National Zoological Garden of South Africa. “We have been a part of this community’s story for 126 years, and we want to do something special to give back.”
Mudimeli highlights that the Zoo is not just looking back, but moving into a future as a modern hub for conservation and education. “Our mission is more urgent than ever: to protect vulnerable and endangered species, as well as inspire the next generation of nature-lovers and biodiversity champions. We want every person who visits to feel that energy and continue to be a part of our future.”

· Enjoy R26 Zoo entry on the 26th of every month!
· Come aboard the celebration train! A special trackless train is ready to whisk young and adult visitors on a fun-filled tour of the Zoo’s gorgeous grounds. Tickets are R23.00 for children and R40.00 for adults.
· Enjoy a big seal smooch! Experience a medical training session with our fur seals and “seal” it with a kiss for just R50.00.
