The Renishaw Solstice Race taking place on Saturday, 20 June 2026, at Crocworld Adventure & Conservation Centre – within Renishaw Coastal Precinct – will give outdoor enthusiasts a chance to discover one of the KZN South Coast’s best adventure attractions. The Scottburgh event will showcase a newly developed coastal forest network for trail running, mountain biking, hiking, and nature-based experiences.
“We’re excited to welcome local and visiting athletes to our incredible new trails, which give a real behind-the-scenes look at the precinct’s natural spaces,” says Barto van der Merwe, Managing Director of Renishaw Coastal Precinct. “Winding through indigenous coastal forest, riverine corridors, open grasslands, and scenic viewpoints overlooking the Indian Ocean, this purpose-built trail network is a great way to experience one of the region’s most beautiful natural settings.”
Expansive Nature-Based Trails
The trail network starts at Crocworld Adventure & Conservation Centre, connecting into a broader outdoor ecosystem stretching through Renishaw Coastal Precinct and surrounding areas, with more than 100 kilometres of trails already developed and maintained through collaboration with local partners and sporting clubs.
Developed by the team from Badger’s Cycling and Sports Centre (CSC), which recently relocated its Scottburgh bike shop to the entrance of Crocworld, the trails form part of a broader vision to transform this into a leading adventure and lifestyle destination.
“In partnership with Crookes Brothers and Renishaw Coastal Precinct, we at Badger’s CSC are constantly working on an ever-expanding network of purpose-built mountain biking and running trails,” explained Jason Scott of Badger’s Cycling and Sports Centre.
“The trail network is continuing to evolve, with new sections regularly being added. We’re still establishing the formal loops, but visitors can already enjoy 5km, 10km, 20km, and 40km routes that start and finish at Crocworld. The trails are fun and engaging, incorporating flowing sections, technical features, varied terrain, and some truly spectacular scenery.”
Renishaw Solstice Race to Showcase the Trails
Participants of the first-ever Renishaw Solstice Race on 20 June 2026 will get to experience the trails first-hand. Hosted by Scottburgh Cycling Club and sponsored by Renishaw Coastal Precinct, the event forms part of the KwaZulu-Natal Mountain Biking Series and has been classified as a KZN Super Classic Race.
Athletes can expect a dynamic course featuring:
- Flowing single-track sections

The flagship 45km cycling route includes approximately 1,000 metres of elevation gain, providing a significant challenge for competitive riders while rewarding participants with breathtaking scenery.
