Biogas has to be the future of energy in the rural areas : NJ Ayuk

While the current pandemic situation has stalled most of the energy production projects around the globe, renewable energy sources like Water, Solar, and Wind must be looked forward to like the things of the future.

Speaking of Renewable energy resources, biogas is another such source that can be used for off-grid electricity generation. Although biogas is not known to be an efficient source of electricity, it can still be deemed as a valuable energy source in third world countries like Congo, Zambia, Peru, and so on.

NJ Ayuk, who comes over as one of the most talked-about energy experts from South Africa, also talks about the relevance of Biogas as a cheap and sustainable energy source.

Getting to various aspects of Biogas energy

Study shows that mixing different raw materials in a proper ratio ( also known as co-digestion) can make a significant difference inefficiency. A model for bio gas-based low-cost off-grid power plant for rural areas take into account the generator size, and some maintenance tasks, such as H2S removal unit, etc.

Model and assessments indicate that electricity generation from biogas is feasible even for a relatively small application in the range of 10-50 kW.

NJ Ayuk Lawyer also points out the amazing benefits of using Biogas in all such areas where the bio-waste is available in abundance.

Benefits of the Biogas :

  • Reduces pollution
  • Reduces waste of time while collecting firewood
  • Reduces reliability on fossil fuels
  • Reduces fuel import bill
  • Saves the environment (Reduces deforestation)
  • Improves living quality in rural areas.
  • Reduces global warming
  • Induces good quality manure to improve soil fertility.
  • An effective and convenient way for sanitary disposal of organic wastes,
  • Improves the hygienic conditions.

Since it has the quality of being smokeless fuel; it reduces any sort of disease in the human body. Being lower dense than CNG, it’s considered to be less lethal for use. When compared to LPG; LPG is having the properties equal to a liquid.

When any LPG leakage happens, the gas disperses around in the area like a liquid for a long time and the same situation can be very dangerous to the health and wellbeing of the people around.

Moreover, it can also cause eye or lung disease which is considered to be very harmful and fatal in nature for the human body. In contrast, biogas dissolves and disperses in the air because it has the properties to make it lighter than air. Thus, it makes itself to be much safer than CNG and LPG.

NJ Ayuk concludes that the government and authorities around must pay proper attention to the available sources of biogas so as the local people (especially the underprivileged one) can get benefitted from the same.
