Trailblazing female leader nominated for first-ever SAWIL awards
Dorcas Dube – Marketing & Communications Manager for Partners for Possibility.

Dorcas Dube, the Marketing and Communications Manager for South African-based leadership and education non-profit, Symphonia for South Africa (SSA), has been nominated among the top finalists of the inaugural Southern Africa Women in Leadership (SAWIL) Trailblazer Awards.

In line with #SAWILVision2030, this virtual recognition is testament to her continued efforts to build, inspire and lift others through her leadership. The award recognises a jurisdiction, agency or individual who has identified and implemented innovative changes that have positively affected their respective communities. SAWIL aims to ensure equal representation of women in critical positions across various economic sectors in the countries it operates in.

Since her student days, Dube has sought to leverage her commitment to human rights and social justice. She describes herself as ‘a proud African’, and ‘truly believes in the massive potential’ of the continent and its people. She believes that if we all work together as one to add value to communities, the solutions to societal ills are not out of reach. Today, her core role is to lead the SSA Marketing and Communications team, dedicating a large focus to its flagship programme, Partners for Possibility (PfP). Her work for the PfP programme has entrenched the idea that education is an ‘enabling’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) as well as a foundational human right.

Dube holds a BA in Corporate Communication as well as an Honours in Strategic Communication both obtained from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She is currently pursuing a Masters in the field of Strategic Communication through the same university.
