Early Life and Education

In the landscape of India’s experience and events industry, few names stand as tall and versatile as Samit Garg. An entrepreneur with a passion for creativity, heritage, and hospitality, Samit has become a transformative figure in the luxury events and tourism space. As Managing Director and co-founder of E-Factor Experiences Ltd. and Skywaltz Balloon Safari, his work has consistently bridged imagination with execution and tradition with innovation. His influence spans from bespoke weddings and multimedia shows to global tourism projects and heritage collaborations with governments. Through each venture, he has built a legacy of experiences that leave lasting impressions.

Born on October 11, 1971, in Lucknow, Samit Garg’s roots are firmly grounded in the cultural richness of India. He completed his schooling in 1989 at St. Francis’ College, a reputed institution in his hometown. After finishing school, he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Lucknow and graduated in 1992. His thirst for knowledge and business acumen led him to complete an MBA in Commerce and Business Management from the Jaipuria Institute of Management in 1996.

His commitment to lifelong learning is reflected in his most recent academic pursuit. Between 2023 and 2024, Samit attended the International Leadership Program for Senior Executives at INSEAD, a globally respected business school, further sharpening his leadership skills and global outlook.

The Beginning of a Career

Samit’s professional career began in the financial sector, where he worked in the money markets from 1992 to 1996. In 1997, driven by his entrepreneurial instincts, he launched an air charter business. While the venture faced challenges and eventually did not scale as hoped, it laid the groundwork for his understanding of aviation, luxury services, and market unpredictability. This early setback did not deter him. Instead, it sparked a deeper interest in curated experiences and hospitality, eventually leading to the creation of ventures that would redefine event planning and tourism in India.

Founding of E-Factor Experiences

In 2003, Samit co-founded E-Factor Experiences Ltd. along with his wife Manika and close friends Jai and Sonali Thakore. What began as a wedding planning company quickly evolved into something far more dynamic. E-Factor soon became one of the most respected names in the experiential industry, with its core now rooted in public events, cultural programs, and landmark government collaborations.

Today, nearly eighty percent of E-Factor’s portfolio is dedicated to large-scale government festivals, multimedia installations, museum curations, and special television and stadium events. Under Samit’s leadership, the company has shifted its focus from celebrations to impact-driven storytelling through experiences. His vision centers on creating immersive moments that resonate across cultures and borders. In October 2023, E-Factor achieved a significant milestone by getting listed on the public markets. This move reflects the company’s enduring value and Samit’s foresight in placing experiential design at the heart of the global economy.

Launching Skywaltz Balloon Safari

Samit Garg is also credited with introducing commercial hot air ballooning to India. In 2008, he co-founded Skywaltz Balloon Safari with Jai Thakore. It became the country’s first and only licensed commercial hot air balloon venture. Skywaltz has since operated in multiple states and has participated in international events, including festivals in Agra, Pushkar, Varanasi, and Araku. Skywaltz was honored with the National Award for the Most Innovative Tourism Project, marking a key moment in India’s adventure tourism narrative. The venture not only brought aerial adventures to the masses but also opened new doors for integrating tourism with cultural heritage.

Collaborations with Government and Public Sector

Samit’s influence extends far beyond private enterprise. He has become a trusted collaborator for both central and state governments, working to develop tourism strategies and cultural showcases that reflect the soul of India.

E-Factor has led several high-impact government projects such as Deepotsav in Ayodhya, Navy Day celebrations, and the Champion’s Boat League in Kerala. These experiences have been instrumental in drawing both domestic and international attention to India’s soft power and artistic heritage. Through long-term multimedia shows at iconic sites like the Gateway of India and Golconda Fort, Samit has helped modernize how audiences engage with monuments and national stories. His leadership has made public spaces more interactive, inclusive, and globally recognized.

Industry Leadership and Associations

Samit serves as the President of the Events and Entertainment Management Association. His presidency has been marked by progress, collaboration, and growth within the Indian event management industry. He was re-elected unopposed for a second term, a testament to the respect he commands among peers.

Beyond national borders, Samit is a member of the World Experience Organization and sits on the Governing Council of the Media and Entertainment Skills Council. In 2023, he was also nominated to the World Experience Council, a global think tank comprising thirty-six thought leaders focused on shaping the roadmap for the creative economy. These associations place him at the forefront of global conversations around experience design, talent development, and cultural strategy.

Major Projects and Achievements

Over the years, Samit has led some of India’s most significant experiential initiatives. He led the team that won the bid to build the India Pavilion for the World Expo in Osaka, scheduled for 2025, in a joint venture with TATA. His company also designed and executed the virtual museum for the Securities and Exchange Board of India. E-Factor continues to develop Eco Retreats at three destinations in Odisha under a long-term government initiative. Another ongoing project involves constructing a museum at the Tagore Cultural Complex in Shillong. The company also manages long-term multimedia installations at both the Gateway of India and Golconda Fort. Samit has been responsible for curating and managing the Pushkar Mela festivals across five consecutive years from 2015 to 2019. He also oversaw the National Youth Festival in 2022 and the DOT Fest for the Hockey World Cup in 2023. In 2023, E-Factor was entrusted with the inauguration of Bharat Mandapam, an event of national importance. Each of these projects showcases Samit’s ability to integrate design, innovation, and storytelling into public experiences that leave a lasting impression.

A Legacy in the Making

Samit Garg’s journey is one of resilience, imagination, and strategic thinking. From a modest start in Lucknow to the global stages of tourism and entertainment, his impact is both deep and wide. Through E-Factor and Skywaltz, he has contributed to reimagining how India engages with its heritage and how the world experiences India.

He continues to be a driving force in the creative economy, shaping new ideas and mentoring emerging professionals in the sector. His recent collaborations with the Government of Odisha to promote outdoor luxury living underscore his ongoing commitment to developing Brand India as a global symbol of experience and hospitality.
