Managed business services firm Itec has named Mike Murray to head its business development efforts as it embarks on an ambitious plan to double its business within the next three years.

Murray was a founder director at business finance and advisory services firm Merchant West for 25 years where he was more recently responsible for establishing, directing and implementing the businesses’ sales strategy.

Itec executive director Gavin Meyer said Murray brings ‘a world of business savvy’ to the business, and that he would be critical to Itec to reach its bold growth targets.

“Mike has spent the past 25 years building partnerships in the finance space. This is going to be key as we look to bring in additional partners and products in the coming months, and years, to take our business to the next level in a marketplace that’s in flux right now,” said Meyer.

“The fact that we’re owned by a financial services market leader like Investec puts us in a strong position to drive greater consolidation and collaboration in the industry. By leveraging their incredibly strong brand, we’re looking to develop existing Itec businesses and grow the channel with new players coming on board as Itec partners and dealers.”

At a time when many executives might be considering their golf game rather than the next business opportunity, Murray said Itec offered him a challenge that he couldn’t resist.

“I’m very bullish about Itec’s position and potential in the market. There’s a perception that the print and office automation market is declining, but nothing could be further from the truth. Going forward, we’ll be focusing on our fundamentals of print and document management, unified communications, and intelligent security, and bringing together the worlds of office automation, technology, and IT better,” he said.

“It’s time to shake things up a bit. We’re starting an orange wave – and we’re extending an open invitation to the industry to join us in the next stage of our evolution.”
