Paragon Group, have partnered with Hansgrohe, and are committed to responsible design, working towards creating spaces for sustainable living. The architecture corporate has just come away from the 2019 Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIfA) awards with the coveted Award for Excellence for its work on the 140 West Street commercial development in Sandton.

But it’s their innovation in the world of sustainable buildings that is the real prize.

Mission

Paragon are born-and-bred in Johannesburg, and their aims include helping the continent reach new heights.

“As a Group we are committed to Africa, and believe in the future of its cities. Our roots are here. We have much to offer. We are able and agile, and actively participate in the continent’s urban and human development,” is one of their company statements.

More importantly, Paragon aims to improve the state of our current environment, taking this responsibility seriously.

“We as top management believe that Paragon Group has a responsibility to lead by example and recognise that the product of our designs will have a much larger environmental impact than our own operations. We are aware that expectations and obligations are placed on Paragon Group to contribute to a better quality of life for all by reducing and managing our impact on the environment.”

In Partnership

Hansgrohe have partnered up with certain like-minded companies, like the Paragon Group, an architecture firm from Johannesburg.

Hansgrohe and Paragon have joined forces on a number of projects over the years, both approaching their design tasks with an eco-conscious mindset. These include the Portswood Ridge office building in Cape Town, 144 Oxford Road in Rosebank and Sasol’s global Headquarters in Johannesburg, of which 144 Oxford Road and Sasol’s global headquarters have both been awarded a 5-Star Green Star design category rating by the Green Building Council of South Africa.

Hansgrohe products were also used in the development of Park Central Apartments in Rosebank, Johannesburg. This building has been noted for its performance glazing that has reduced the need for heating and cooling, as well as its sky gardens developed into its façade.

Broader Projects

One of Paragon’s current proposals is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, and explores the concept of living façades in residential buildings. This entails the radical greening of, and integration of nature into, urban frameworks, creating symbiotic relationships between people and the environment, within the living space. The idea is to allow people to connect with nature right from the entrance to every section of the building.

Committed to reducing carbon emissions, energy consumption, the demand on raw materials, waste and by-products, Paragon Group are setting the benchmark for sustainable buildings. Hansgrohe stands as a proud partner, as their own commitment to a sustainable future is reflected in their products – and in the face of their closest friends.
