Price certainty is becoming increasingly important as homeowners and contractors continue investing in essential maintenance and renovation projects.

>16 July 2026, Johannesburg – While South Africans continue to prioritise maintaining and improving their homes, affordability remains a key consideration when planning renovation and DIY projects.

According to Absa’s Homeowner Sentiment Index (Q1 2026), renovation sentiment increased by 4% quarter-on-quarter, with homeowners citing adding value to their property, improving living spaces and completing essential maintenance as the primary reasons for renovating. At the same time, the high cost of building materials remains one of the biggest barriers to undertaking home improvement projects.

Against this backdrop, Builders has extended its six-month Price Lock campaign until 31 December, providing customers with fixed prices on a selected range of home improvement and building products to help households, contractors and businesses budget with greater certainty.

The campaign includes selected products across key home improvement categories including paint, doors and windows, bathrooms, hardware, security, electrical, flooring, garden, nursery, pool and appliances, supporting everything from routine maintenance to larger renovation and building projects.

Products included in the campaign range from core building essentials such as shutterply, melamine boards, plaster, paint and porcelain tile adhesive to project items including wheelbarrows, bathroom suites, wardrobes, angle grinders, shower units, sliding gate motors and garage doors.

With South Africans increasingly focused on protecting and improving one of their largest financial assets, the ability to lock in pricing can make it easier to plan projects over an extended period without the uncertainty of changing prices.

“We know that every rand matters for our customers, especially when they are taking on home improvement, maintenance or building projects,” said Clyde Hill, Massmart VP, Buying Group Merchandise. “Through Price Lock, we are giving customers the confidence to plan ahead, shop essential products at competitive prices and complete their projects without the added pressure of unexpected price changes.”

>Each Price Lock product is clearly identified in-store with a distinctive red Price Lock tag, making participating products easy to identify while shopping. The campaign is also available online, allowing customers to access the same fixed-price products through Builders’ digital channels.

Builders continues to focus on making quality home improvement products more accessible through competitive pricing, convenient shopping options and a broad product offering for both DIY enthusiasts and professional tradespeople.
