Ahmed Gadalla signs exclusive master franchise agreement with Türkiye’s MADO: US$7 million, 7 cafés and 350 jobs in the first phase; 1,000 sq m Benghazi flagship opens Q1 2027

Alushibe Holding Group today announced plans to bring 12 international food-and-beverage brands to Libya by 2028 through its Retail & Destinations division, beginning with an exclusive master franchise agreement with MADO, the Turkish ice-cream and patisserie house founded in 1850.

Signed in Kahramanmaraş on 13 October 2026 by Ahmed Gadalla, Founder and Chairman of Alushibe Holding Group, and Mehmet Sait Kanbur, Chairman of MADO, the agreement grants Alushibe exclusive rights to develop and operate MADO in Libya, the brand’s 36th country. Alushibe will invest US$7 million in the first phase: 7 cafés and 350 jobs, beginning in Benghazi before Tripoli and other major cities.

The first MADO in Libya, a flagship of more than 1,000 sq m in Al-Hawari, Benghazi, in an Alushibe-owned property, opens in Q1 2027. A second location will anchor District Mall, Alushibe’s 53,000 sq m development in Benghazi and Libya’s largest open-air mall (25,000 sq m gross leasable area), opening in 2028.

The 12 brands, spanning coffee, bakery, casual dining and quick-service restaurants, will enter the division’s platform of three shopping malls, three hotels and more than 215 stores across Libya, totalling more than 2.15 million sq ft.

“Türkiye is among Libya’s most important trading partners. The next chapter will be written by private groups able to carry international brands into Libya at international standards. We have spent decades building that capacity: the destinations, the operating discipline and the capital. MADO earned its name over 176 years in Kahramanmaraş. Libyan teams will deliver it, because the measure of this programme is not only what Libyans can buy, but what Libyans can build,” said Ahmed Gadalla. The first phase creates 350 jobs across café operations, supply chain and management, with Libyan teams trained to MADO’s standards before each opening.
