Air Liquide reinforces commitment to contribute to South Africa’s social transformation through appointment of local BBBEE partner, CIH

Air Liquide Large Industries South Africa (ALLISA) has finalised the selection of its local Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) partner and appointed Community Investment Holdings (CIH), in

line with its social transformation ambition. CIH now holds 25% shareholding in ALLISA, a subsidiary of the Air Liquide Group operating the 16 Air Separation Units (ASUs) acquired from Sasol in 2021. This milestone

demonstrates Air Liquide’s commitment to contribute towards the economic development of the country with the ambition to improve the lives of the South African society.

CIH is a South African local investment holding company with business interests in sectors ranging from financial services, logistics, mining, power and energy and healthcare. CIH is also in partnership with the South African subsidiaries of Air Liquide Healthcare and VitalAire and is set to significantly contribute to ALLISA through its expertise on the local, economic and regulatory contexts of South Africa.

ALLISA is involved in various community upliftment programs that aim to make a meaningful difference where it operates. In 2022, ALLISA invested in small and medium enterprise business development in line with its Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) mandate. In addition, in 2023 it launched the Secunda Business Centre aimed at building capacity for local small businesses to be competitive on the market. Further, during the first two years of operation, ALLISA significantly supported the training and development of its employees, to build expertise in implementing highly mastered operational practices that optimise the operation of the ASUs and energy consumption.
