Entrepreneurs across Africa have hailed this event as a boon to advance ecosystem building as a new approach to economic development. The Africa Startup Ecosystem Builders Summit and Awards (ASEB Summit) is a flagship program by Setup a Startup, a company that has since 2017 been at the forefront of bringing together public and private sector partners who help entrepreneurs with access to networks, talent resources and financing, to turn their ideas and technical expertise into established startups in all African regions.

Setup a Startup Director, McKevin Ayaba, reaffirms his commitment to connecting African startups, individuals and organizations that contribute to the ecosystem in a bid to provide entrepreneurial support across the continent. The ASEB Summit is backed by ecosystem partners and multinationals including the Federation of Innovative and Numeric Activities in Mauritius (FINAM), MBM Africa Kenya, Global Youth Parliament of Mozambique, Scale up Africa in Ghana and many others.

Ahead of the summit launch to be held next month in April, the company released its press statement that detailed how participants can access more information and register to attend on its website, adding that ASEB Summit and Awards 2022 will be held under the theme “Discover and understand the needs of startup ecosystem building and ecosystem builders.”

Among the champions to be crowned at the Awards ceremony are educational institutions, media partners, incubators, co-working spaces, financial institutions, mentors and coaches as contributors who form part of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Key Drivers of Africa’s Economic Growth

The organizers and many entrepreneurs recognize the value of diversity and inclusion in the startup and business communities aimed at furthering the continent’s economic growth despite persistent challenges, thus the ASEB Summit considers to foster relationships built around shared interests and needs across communities, leverage strengths around technology-based economic development, and discover creative, actionable ways to build an inclusive network that is supportive of startups led by women and other underrepresented groups.

In the words of Abdou Diop, managing director at Mazars, an international audit, tax and advisory firm in Morocco who recently featured in the Intra-Africa Trade Fair 2022 as one of the speakers, he said “Africa is really full of resources; the continent is very young, it’s innovating, creating, investing…” the ASEB Summit organizers and participants are living up to this verity.

After a three-year absence, the ASEB Summit is beamed to realize increased participation with attendees representing a cross-selection of leaders from incubators, accelerators, universities, private investors, corporations, state and local support groups, as well as other organizations working with startups and small businesses.

Celebrating Startup Ecosystem Builders

The program has an array of categories to be honored with over 20 accolades. ASEB Summit and Awards 2022 will close with an African-style gala dinner and awards ceremony in celebration of all the selfless contributors who offer so much yet often given so little acknowledgment for their efforts behind the scenes: the community’s unsung heroes, the company concluded in a statement.
