A quick response and the police’s determination to discourage crime by providing responsive policing led to apprehension of a suspect within three hours of the commission of the crime.
The suspects’ apprehension emanated from an incident in which they accosted a 20 year old man who was sleeping in his house in the early hours of Friday, 20 October 2017, at Tshing location, Ventersdorp.
According to information received, the suspects broke the door and entered the house. They (suspects) allegedly threatened the man with a knife and strangled him. The suspects then took the victim’s personal belongings including a cellular phone, all to the estimated value of R1 300.00.
The matter was reported the same morning to police who made a follow up on information received. The police managed within three hours to arrest a 30 year old suspect. He is expected to appear in the Ventersdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 October 2017 for house robbery.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane applauded members for the prompt response that resulted in the arrest of trio crime suspect. She said further that the arrest will send a message to potential criminals that the police will not hesitate to bring to book anyone who commits crime including the two outstanding suspects in this case.
