In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s lifelong commitment to South African communities, PEP is calling on everyone who has a little to share to spend 67 seconds paying off someone else’s lay-by, quickly and easily, online.
This winter, the PEP Lay-by Buddy online donations page is an easy way for South Africans to help settle an outstanding lay-by balance for a family in need.
Any amount, no matter how big or small, can make a real impact in the lives of families who need it the most. These contributions directly help families who have lay-bys containing winter essentials like schoolwear, kids’ winter clothing, baby products, blankets and more.
The PEP Lay-by Buddy initiative was founded in 2020 based on the true spirit of Ubuntu, reminding us that small, individual acts of kindness can accumulate to create meaningful acts of hope for those who need it the most.
It’s easy to be a PEP Lay-by Buddy. Donations of any size are welcome and can be made quickly and securely online through the pepstores.com website. Every cent donated goes directly towards paying off a real lay-by in a PEP store. Recipients of a lay-by contribution remain anonymous and are notified by SMS containing a voucher to the amount that will settle their lay-by.
While Mandela Day is the perfect time to be a Lay-by Buddy, PEP encourages people to support one another all-year round – and especially during the cold winter season.
