
EASTERN CAPE — A swift law enforcement operation in the Eastern Cape has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old woman and the seizure of three unlicensed firearms in Bongolethu Location, just outside Cacadu. This targeted intervention underscores the continued commitment of local authorities to dismantle illegal weapons networks and ensure community safety in the region.
Acting on actionable intelligence on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, specialized members of the Komani Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence executed a search warrant at an identified premises in the area. The operation successfully uncovered a cache of illegal weaponry, specifically two 9mm pistols, one revolver, and 18 rounds of live ammunition.
Following the recovery of the weapons, the 27-year-old female suspect was immediately taken into custody. Representatives from the investigating units confirmed that she has been formally charged with the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The confiscated weapons and ammunition are now slated for comprehensive ballistic testing. This crucial forensic analysis will determine whether the recovered firearms were previously used in the commission of other criminal activities across the province. The accused is expected to appear before the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court in the near future to answer to the charges.
