PRETORIA, Gauteng — SAPS Brigadier Rachel Matjeng has been officially dismissed from the South African Police Service following her implication in a R228 million scandal.
The dismissal is the result of a concluded internal disciplinary process where the senior officer was found guilty on multiple counts of serious misconduct. These charges stem directly from her relationship with alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
As highlighted by spokesperson Cressida Lewis, the specialized commercial crimes court is scheduled to hand down judgment at 8:30 a.m. in a case involving Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.
In a significant development for the prosecution, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala has officially turned state witness. Legal observers are closely monitoring the proceedings to see what evidence he will provide. His testimony is expected to be highly revealing and could heavily influence future developments, potentially triggering further arrests and exposing additional individuals implicated within the police service.
