GUGULETHU – Detectives from the Western Cape Provincial Serious Violent Crime Unit are investigating a triple murder following a shooting in the Kanana informal settlement on the evening of Saturday, 27 June 2026.

At approximately 19:00, three armed suspects arrived at a shack in NY111, Kanana. The suspects allegedly sought the homeowner, who was absent at the time. After waiting for her return, the suspects opened fire on the homeowner and other occupants upon her arrival.

Three individuals sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were declared deceased at the scene: a 41-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman, and a 21-year-old man. Several other occupants present during the attack managed to flee and escaped unharmed.

While the official motive remains undetermined, preliminary information suggests the incident was a targeted attack.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
