NELSON MANDELA BAY, Eastern Cape — An African National Congress (ANC) ward councillor in the Nelson Mandela Bay metro has been shot dead shortly after voter registration closed. Sicelo Mleve, who served as the councillor for Ward 27, was the victim of the fatal shooting.
A spokesperson for the ANC confirmed that Mleve was shot dead at his ward office. Ward 27 covers a section of Zwide and Soweto on Sea, where the late councillor represented the community.
The motive for the murder is not yet known, and no arrests have been made at this time.
