EDENVALE — A 45-year-old media personality, widely identified as television presenter Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, commonly known as Jub Jub, has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and shooting of an e-hailing driver in Edenvale.

The terrifying ordeal unfolded on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 07:30. According to a Gauteng police spokesperson, the driver had transported a female passenger to a residence in Edenvale, located east of Johannesburg. Upon dropping off the passenger, the driver was confronted by the suspect, who accused him of being involved in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.

The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly forced the driver into the vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, the suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver.

The driver managed to escape the vehicle unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter. Law enforcement acted swiftly, arresting the suspect shortly after the incident.

The 45-year-old is facing multiple charges, including kidnapping, the unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public area, and defeating the ends of justice. While police did not officially identify the suspect by name in their initial statement, reports have linked the arrest directly to the well-known television presenter.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing. The suspect is expected to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on Monday, June 15, 2026.
