BELLVILLE – Two suspects, aged 32 and 48, were arrested on Thursday, 11 June 2026, for the possession of electronic jamming devices and car breaking implements following an operation by the Maitland Flying Squad.
The arrests were initiated after police received intelligence regarding a vehicle with two occupants driving through the parking areas of shopping malls and other locations in the Bellville area. Acting on this information, officers intercepted and searched the vehicle in Maree Street, Oakdale.
During the search, police seized two electronic jamming devices and car breaking implements found inside the vehicle. The vehicle has since been returned to the car rental company.
The suspects remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court once formally charged.
