
South African Police Service (SAPS) detectives have arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm and stolen property linked to a business robbery that took place in the Makhado policing area in May 2026.
The coordinated, intelligence-driven operation was conducted on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, by SAPS Makhado Detectives, resulting in the tracing and arrest of two men, aged 34 and 35.
During the operation, police seized an unlicensed pistol and a magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition. Officers also confiscated eleven cellphones and three pepper sprays suspected to be stolen property connected to the May incident.
The suspects have been formally charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of suspected stolen property.
Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the arrests, commending the involved officers for their commitment to fighting crime in the province.
The accused are scheduled to appear before the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Police investigations into the robbery remain ongoing.
