Members of the Kwadwesi South African Police Service (SAPS) arrested a 26-year-old man on Sunday, 24 May 2026, following the discovery of suspected illegal drugs during a targeted operation in Zinyoka.

The arrest occurred as part of a stop-and-search operation conducted by the Kwadwesi Crime Prevention Unit (CPU). At approximately 20:00, officers were patrolling Mbeki Road, Zinyoka—an area identified as a crime hotspot—when they received information from a reliable source regarding alleged drug-dealing activities at a residence on Madwara Street.

Acting on this intelligence, police obtained a search warrant and proceeded to the specified address. Upon arrival at approximately 21:10, officers identified themselves, stated the purpose of their visit, and lawfully searched the premises.

During the search, members discovered and seized the following items concealed inside a black sling bag:

  • Nineteen (19) transparent packets of Tik (methamphetamine);
  • Seventeen (17) transparent packets of CAT (a synthetic stimulant); and
  • Cash in the amount of R385.

A 26-year-old male suspect, identified as Anele Sikweyiya, was arrested on the spot and charged with dealing in drugs.

Sikweyiya is expected to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 25 May 2026, to face formal charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
