Ramaroka Village, Limpopo — The Bolobedu Police are investigating two counts of rape and robbery with a firearm following a violent attack on two women in Ramaroka Village on Saturday, 3 May 2026, at approximately 21:00.

According to police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo, the incident began earlier that evening in Kheshokholwe Village, where an 18-year-old female victim accepted a lift from an unknown male suspect driving a silver Toyota Avanza with an unknown registration number. The suspect told the victim he was also traveling to Mohlabaneng Village.

At the Mokwakwaila four-way stop, the suspect picked up a second female passenger who likewise indicated she was heading to Mohlabaneng.

The suspect then drove to Ramaroka Cross, near the Voltania Solar Plant, and stopped the vehicle under the pretext of needing to relieve himself. Upon his return, the 18-year-old victim asked him to stop a vehicle she recognized on the main road as belonging to a family member.

At that point, the suspect produced a firearm, pointed it at both women, and ordered the second female passenger to lie on the ground. He threatened to shoot her if she made any noise. He then re-entered the vehicle armed with a sharp object and threatened to stab the 18-year-old victim if she screamed.

The suspect instructed the 18-year-old to remove her clothing and proceeded to rape her inside the vehicle. Afterward, he forcibly removed the second female victim from her position on the ground and raped her as well.

Following the sexual assaults, the suspect robbed both victims of two cellphones before fleeing the scene in the silver Toyota Avanza.

The two victims managed to flag down assistance from a passing motorist. The incident was subsequently reported to the Bolobedu Police, who arrived at the scene to conduct preliminary investigations and collect forensic evidence.

A manhunt for the unknown suspect is currently underway. Police have appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about the suspect, the silver Toyota Avanza, or the incident to contact the Bolobedu Police Station or the SAPS Crime Stop hotline.

“We are treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves and are following all available leads,” Captain Masondo stated. “We encourage community members to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately.”

The victims are receiving support from trained crisis counselors. Police have not released further identifying details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
