A 40-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Dalasile Periodical Court on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, after being arrested for the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The arrest took place on 18 May 2026. Members of the Mthatha Public Order Police (POPO) Unit, in collaboration with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Dalasile, acted on intelligence regarding an individual reportedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm at the Sigidi Administration Area in Ngxangxasi locality, Dalasile.

Upon arriving at the identified premises, police officers introduced themselves, explained the purpose of their visit, and requested permission to conduct a search, which was granted.

During the search, authorities recovered a Norinco 9mm pistol, a magazine, and six rounds of live ammunition. The suspect failed to produce a valid firearm license and was immediately arrested. He was detained at Dalasile Police Station.
