Three young girls rescued from a brothel during an unannounced police raid at a block of flats in Zastron Street in Bloemfontein resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old Nigerian man for human trafficking and keeping a brothel.

The place in question has been under police surveillance for some months after been suspected to be used as hideout or harboring wanted and notorious criminals, storage for the stolen goods, dealing in drugs as well as the prostitution.

During the raid which had occurred in the early hours of 20 July 2017, three young girls aged between 16 and 21, were rescued after they were allegedly been found locked in one of the room suspected to be used as brothel.

The victims also alleged that they have been kept against their will in the room for the past six months and used as sex workers by the apartment owner.

The girls were then freed and taken to their different homes in Mangaung to reunite with their families.
