A 23-year-old male suspect was arrested on Sunday, 08 March 2026, following his apprehension by community members in the Mdeni locality of Gqubeni A/A.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 when residents of the area confronted and detained the individual. He was found to be in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with its serial number erased, as well as ammunition.
Community members subsequently alerted the Lusikisiki police, who arrived at the scene and formally took the suspect into custody. He has been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court.
