Members of the Western Cape Flying Squad recovered a hijacked vehicle and arrested four suspects during an interception on the N2 highway on Tuesday evening.
According to police, the officials, described as “hawk-eyed,” identified a white Toyota Etios that had been reported hijacked in Woodstock earlier that evening.
The vehicle was stopped on the N2 near Driftsands at approximately 21:00. Inside the car, officers found three male occupants and one female, all between the ages of 21 and 23.
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered two stolen cellular telephones and a quantity of cash totaling R9,860.
The four occupants were subsequently arrested on charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s court once they have been formally charged.
