Two suspects were fatally wounded in a shootout with police early this morning. Five unlicensed firearms, including two AK-47 assault rifles, were recovered.
Police, acting on intelligence about illegal firearms, approached a house in the Margate policing area. They announced their presence and received no response. Upon entering, the two occupants inside opened fire.
Police returned fire, fatally wounding both suspects. No officers were injured.
The recovered weapons were two AK-47 assault rifles and three pistols.
