The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Organized Crime Narcotics Unit arrested three people and confiscated drugs worth an estimated R1.6 million in Umzinto on Friday.
The arrested individuals are two foreign nationals—one from a West African country and one from a Central African country—and a South African woman.
The operation began with the interception of a vehicle driven by the main suspect just before 06:00. A search found crystal meth under the driver’s seat and an undisclosed amount of suspected crime proceeds. The man was arrested and his vehicle seized. A subsequent search at his Malangeni residence uncovered more drugs hidden under a bed.
Police then arrested the South African woman at her residence, where they found cocaine, crack cocaine, and crystal meth.

At a third residence on Nelson Mandela Road, officers discovered nearly 5,000 heroin capsules and almost 800kg of heroin powder.
The three suspects are due to appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.
