Three Arrested in Murder of School Principal

A detailed police investigation into the fatal shooting of a local school principal at his home last month has resulted in the arrest of three suspects, including the victim’s wife.

The 59-year-old principal was killed at his Siphaqeni homestead on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at approximately 19:45. He was with his family at the time of the attack.

A multi-unit police team, including the Flagstaff Station Commander, Detectives Commander, Vispol Commander, Crime Intelligence, and Public Order Policing, conducted a series of arrests on Tuesday, 09 December 2025.

The operation began in the early hours of the morning at Luqoqweni locality in Lusikisiki. At about 02:00, police apprehended a 35-year-old alleged hitman. At the scene, they recovered an unlicensed Silver Norincho 9mm pistol with an erased serial number, along with fourteen (14) live rounds of ammunition.

Following this arrest, the team proceeded to Flagstaff, where they took into custody a 40-year-old alleged middleman and the deceased’s 52-year-old wife.

The alleged hitman is scheduled to appear first before the Lusikisiki Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, facing charges of unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of live ammunition.

All three suspects are then due to appear before the Flagstaff Magistrate Court on Thursday, 11 December 2025. They face charges of murder and conspiracy to murder.
