In a sweeping display of coordinated law enforcement, a high-density operation led by the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Fred Kekana, yielded significant results in the Akasia policing precinct this week.

The multidisciplinary operation, which included roadblocks and targeted compliance inspections, was conducted to address criminal activity and ensure public safety in the Tshwane District.

A key component of the operation was a roadblock where authorities arrested 23 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol. In a separate but simultaneous action, police apprehended more than 80 people for being in the country illegally.

The clampdown extended to local businesses, with law enforcement closing one liquor outlet for failing to comply with the Liquor Act. Additionally, four other establishments were shut down for possession of illegal drugs.

In a parallel overnight operation, Provincial Detective services conducted a massive operation to track down wanted suspects. This effort led to the arrest of 1,300 individuals who had outstanding warrants. Among those apprehended, 268 were wanted specifically for crimes against women and children.

Police spokesperson emphasized that these actions, which included visible patrols and compliance inspections throughout the Akasia area, demonstrate the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) unwavering commitment to enforcing the law, ensuring community safety, and holding offenders accountable.
