A high-level, crime intelligence-driven operation by Gauteng police culminated in a fatal shootout on Friday, 24 October 2025, leaving three suspects dead in the Parktown area.
The operation was launched following intelligence related to a kidnapping and an attempted kidnapping previously reported in the Langlaagte and Randburg areas. Acting on this information, law enforcement officials located the suspects’ vehicle and attempted to intercept it.
According to police reports, the suspects opened fire on the officers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. The shootout resulted in the three suspects being fatally wounded. A subsequent search of the scene led to the recovery of two unlicensed firearms.
