Woolworths is proud to announce the launch of a curated heritage-themed capsule collection, celebrating South Africa’s rich diversity and culture through innovative and uniquely local fashion, food and homeware products.
Launched under the theme ‘An Ode to WE’, the Heritage Collection showcases collaborations with local talents like 2024 Woolworths Youth Maker winner and fashion designer Sibusiso Mokhachane, and the dynamic sister duo behind homeware brand Mo’s Crib.
More than just a product range, An Ode to WE is a celebration of the beauty that unites us as South Africans and a tribute to the people who carry that richness, resilience and creativity into everyday life.
An Ode to WE
This message of unity and identity is what inspired Sibusiso’s limited-edition fashion capsule collection, designed for men, women and children. The bold black-and-white patterns draw from the design languages of the many cultures, races, religions and landmarks that shape South Africa’s rich heritage.
As founder of the SOULART FOUNDATION, a creative social enterprise focused on community development, Sibusiso’s perspective is shaped by the country’s many divides and contrasts and our ability to co-exist in harmony, despite it all.
“The message I want this collection to send is that unity and identity are in our hands. We must plant the trees of the future by looking at our children and seeing the future of South Africa. Let’s celebrate who we already are. We should be proactive citizens, beautifying the spaces we live in, playing our part and embracing our differences. Our diversity is our greatest strength.”
Spotlighting Local Craftsmanship
Mo’s Crib specialises in recycled and handmade décor with a uniquely South African look and feel and has been a supplier to Woolworths since 2020. Sisters Mo and Michelle employ a workforce of over 100 predominantly female artisans and are strongly committed to handcrafted local production, not merely as a marketing tactic, but to ensure that their principles of preserving traditional techniques, job creation and reducing the company’s carbon footprint are upheld.
Mo’s Crib’s designs are inspired and informed by local traditions and the natural environment, with these influences evident in the woven multi-use baskets featured in the Heritage Collection. Both beautiful and practical, these baskets are ideal for storing laundry, blankets or anything else you need to tuck away stylishly.
Celebrating South African Flavours
Woolworths is turning up the heat with an expanded heritage food gifting range that captures the spirit of being South African: bold flavours, shared traditions, and of course, a deep love for the braai!
Braai masters can spice things up with a new range of spices, including Fynbos Shisanyama and Braaibroodjie Seasoning, cleverly packaged in shaker beer tins. No flames? No problem. The new Artisanal Rooibos-Infused Salt, presented in a locally crafted ceramic pinch pot, is perfect for adding homegrown flavour to everyday cooking.
The collection also puts a local spin on familiar favourites, from Maize Meal Arancini with iBhisto Relish—served in a sleek black enamel tray—to braai-ready sides like a Pull-Apart Chakalaka Bread kit and an Amasi Roosterkoek Braaibroodjie kit. For a sweet finish, there’s the easy No-Bake Fridge Milk Tart kit, bringing a nostalgic taste of home to your Heritage Day table and beyond.
As a proudly South African company with almost 100 years of history, Woolworths envisions the Ode to WE Heritage Collection to be a celebration of the country’s rich heritage and a reminder that we have so much that connects – far more than the things that don’t.
