
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, 02 September 2025, in the Boiketlo area of Casteel in connection with a serious firearm-related incident that occurred last weekend.
According to police reports, the arrest follows an investigation into an alleged altercation on the night of Saturday, 30 August 2025. It is alleged that the suspect pointed a firearm at a security guard who was stationed at a local school in the area.
A swift investigation by local Detectives led them to the suspect’s residence. Upon searching the home, police discovered an unlicensed firearm with its serial numbers filed off. Additionally, three rounds of ammunition were found hidden under the bed.
The firearm was seized and is scheduled to undergo ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the commission of other crimes.
The suspect is facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as the charge of pointing a firearm at a person. He is expected to make his first appearance at the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 03 September 2025.
