Four suspects are in custody following a fatal shooting in Moffatview on Friday, 29 August 2025. The suspects, aged between 19 and 36, are expected to face a litany of charges after a police response led to the discovery of a significant arsenal and narcotics.
The incident unfolded when police officers stationed nearby heard a gunshot. Responding immediately to the sound, they discovered a 63-year-old man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A rapid search for the perpetrators was initiated. Authorities soon spotted a suspicious vehicle fleeing the area at high speed. A pursuit ensued, culminating at a block of flats in the South Hill area, where the four suspects were apprehended.
A subsequent search of both the suspects and their premises yielded a substantial haul of illicit materials. Police recovered seven firearms, over one hundred and twenty rounds of ammunition, and drugs with an estimated street value of R300,000.
The four individuals are scheduled to make their initial appearance before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 September 2025, where they will be formally charged.
