For too long, the public have been misled by outdated and unsubstantiated beliefs the justice system is designed to uphold justice and operate independently and fairly.
Due to lack of regulation of judicial officers and court agents, the public can not have reasonable faith in the judicial system to uphold the law or human rights as a standard.
For this reason, “Ponsonby Chambers” has been created, by it’s founder and long standing self litigant, Taz Dunstan, as a legal life line to provide people with access to information in order to make informed decisions about what avenues are available or what steps they can take for their and their families safety and best interests.
Our mission statement summarizes the vision:
“Ponsonby Chambers” will be the most successful, reputable and trusted service provider and resource for the public to use for effective self-representation in the courts of New Zealand as well as a reputable resource both Nationally and Internationally to assist with case law.
For a long time there has been a need for the public to have access to affordable and professional legal representation in New Zealand and globally- with growing demand and decreasing supply due to legal aid back log and unwilling solicitors prepared to work for legal aid clients, Ponsonby Chambers is that solution.

Having launched our pilot company in New Zealand in October 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Social Development under a flexi wage scheme, we have now expanded into Australia in February 2025 offering administrative assistance and information to help people navigate the court systems in both countries.
Further our network of allied professionals and advocates has expanded to include the United Kingdom, America and Canada to assist in support for self litigants or victims of judicial abuse globally which we are proud to stand with and support the work of connecting people with solutions to problems.
We provide an essential service for the community, by way of a legal life line, to make litigation solutions affordable and more accessible. This service is invaluable for all people of all income brackets to access information in order to best represent themselves, and, or, effectively and economically instruct their solicitors.
We have drastically changed the way the community views their rights and legal avenues available to them in order to have the court recognise these rights, fairly and as expeditiously as possible. This includes our recent petition to New Zealand Parliament for all children to have legally recognised rights- not only if they turn 16, which is the current legal framework under the Human Rights Act 1993, s21(i)(i)
Our founders submissions to substantiate this work to create change for child safety in New Zealand, can be read here:

We strive to significantly reduce the stress, financial strain and uncertainty associated with litigation by empowering “consumers” of the judicial system of New Zealand, Australia and globally, to know what options are available to them and provide easy to use and clearly outlined templates and step by step processes, covering options and “risks” to allow them to make informed decisions and represent themselves confidently and competently in the courts.

As a world first, we have combined our experience and knowledge in the courts with a strong background in health and wellness, to create “a mental health hub” within our site, to prioritise peoples survival and overall wellbeing to be able to endure the court process as safely and sustainably as possible.
