The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Fannie Masemola, has hailed the latest breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of renowned DJ Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ SUMBODY.

On Monday afternoon, the SAPS Political Killings Task Team, in collaboration with Gauteng Organised Crime Detectives, arrested four men aged between 45 and 60 in connection with the high-profile killing.

DJ SUMBODY was gunned down in a hail of bullets in November 2022, sparking widespread outrage. Following initial investigations by Gauteng detectives, the Political Killings Task Team was brought in to assist.

The arrests, all made in Gauteng, include three alleged hitmen and a fourth suspect believed to have ordered the killing. Police also seized the weapon used in the crime, which has since been linked to other murders.

All four suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon. They face charges including murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
