A white Toyota Etios, reportedly hijacked while operating as an Uber, was recovered late last night in Newlands East after being abandoned by suspects.
The KZN VIP Control Centre received an alert about the hijacking at approximately 22:40 on Wednesday, prompting an immediate response. KZN VIP officers, in collaboration with tracking agents, located the vehicle on Limpopo Close. However, the suspects had already fled the scene.
According to the vehicle’s owner, the car was being used for ride-hailing services at the time of the hijacking, and the driver remains unreachable. Authorities have taken the vehicle in for further forensic processing.
Security and tracking teams were on-site to assist with the recovery. The incident underscores the importance of using reputable and reliable tracking services to enhance vehicle security.
