Two families are grieving the devastating loss of their children after a deadly fire tore through a shack in Villa Liza, Boksburg, on Friday night. The blaze trapped four young victims inside, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM in the informal settlement on the outskirts of Boksburg. Despite efforts by community members to extinguish the flames, the fire quickly overwhelmed the structure. Emergency services arrived later and managed to contain the fire, but it was too late—the four children had already perished.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Among the victims were two children who had traveled from KwaZulu-Natal to spend their winter holidays with family.

A distraught father, whose child and niece died in the tragedy, appealed for public assistance. The family, originally from Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal, lacks the means to transport the remains or arrange funerals.

Local officials, including a ward councillor, have visited the scene, while community members gather to offer support. Municipal authorities are expected to conduct further assessments.

As investigations continue, the grieving families and residents of Villa Liza seek answers—and help—in the wake of an unimaginable loss.
