South African Tourism has unveiled an exciting new global brand campaign, “South Africa Awaits – Come Find Your Joy!”, aimed at inspiring international travelers to explore the country’s rich diversity, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences.

The campaign, which encourages visitors to embrace South Africa’s “boundless energy,” was officially launched at key international trade shows, including events in the U.S., China, and India, with plans to leverage major events like the upcoming ICC World Cup to attract more tourists.

Rediscovering Joy Through Travel

Speaking in Johannesburg, Thembisile Sehloho, Chief Marketing Officer of South African Tourism, emphasized that the campaign is designed to evoke a childlike sense of wonder in travelers.

“We wanted to capture the curiosity and joy of a child—seeing the world with fresh eyes,” Sehloho explained. “South Africa offers extraordinary landscapes, culture, food, and music, and we invite travelers to experience it all with that same excitement.”

Targeting Key Markets

The campaign focuses on high-growth markets, including China, India, and African nations like Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. Sehloho highlighted that Africa remains a critical source market, with intra-continental travel playing a major role in boosting visitor numbers.

South Africa is currently on track to meet its 2030 target of 15 million international visitors, up from the current 8.9 million. Achieving this goal could create over 200,000 jobs, reinforcing tourism’s role as a key economic driver.

Capitalizing on Global Events

With South Africa hosting the G20 summit, tourism officials see a golden opportunity to showcase the country’s offerings to global leaders and business travelers.

“Many arrive for business, but we want them to return for leisure,” Sehloho said, pointing to South Africa’s world-class hospitality, wildlife, and cultural heritage as major draws.

A Call to Explore

From astro-tourism in the Northern Cape to the newly opened dinosaur park in the Free State, the campaign highlights South Africa’s unique attractions. Sehloho urged both international visitors and locals to “travel their own country” to help shape the nation’s global tourism narrative.

“South Africa truly awaits,” she said. “Come and find your joy!”
