Additional victims have come forward following an interview with an alleged member of a criminal syndicate connected to the murder of Olorato Mongale. One survivor, identified as “Jessica,” recognized the suspect’s voice from a December kidnapping ordeal after meeting him for a date.
Jessica revealed that she was robbed, threatened, and told she was being “taught a lesson” for her social media presence. The case has deepened as police uncover more victims tied to the syndicate, which is now believed to involve multiple perpetrators beyond the initially identified suspects.
Philangenkosi Makhanya, the prime suspect in Mongale’s murder, was killed in a police shootout last week. However, authorities are now pursuing additional individuals linked to the group, including a woman accused of aiding in Jessica’s kidnapping.
Expanding Investigation
A senior reporter has been tracking the case, revealing that new witnesses have identified further suspects. One woman claimed her former boyfriend—featured in the interview—was involved in the syndicate and had purchased a vehicle matching the description of one used in Jessica’s abduction.
Police are also investigating two more individuals named by a third victim, suggesting the syndicate’s operations were broader than initially suspected.
AKA Murder Trial Set to Begin
In a separate development, the trial for the murder of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes is scheduled to begin Wednesday. Four suspects are in custody, though Forbes’ family believes the true mastermind remains at large. The case, which has seen multiple bail hearings, is expected to reveal new details about the February 2023 shooting.
As investigations into both cases progress, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
