A 28-year-old suspect was arrested in Germiston, Gauteng, on Friday, 23 May 2025, by the Hawks’ Crime Against The State (CATS) unit, which forms part of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Gauteng.

The arrest follows a case reported earlier this month after a Cape Town-based company’s Chief Executive Officer allegedly received a threatening voice message from the suspect targeting the President of South Africa. The suspect is also accused of sending multiple threatening messages directed at the complainant, her family, and the Executive Mayor of Cape Town.

The matter was reported to the Hawks’ CATS team in Cape Town, which conducted a swift investigation leading to the suspect’s apprehension in Gauteng.

The accused is currently being transported to Cape Town and is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 May 2025, to face a charge of intimidation.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
